Ok, so what the *hell* is going on with British Style Bloggers?

The short answer: A lot.

The long answer:

Well...

I realised a while back that I wasn't happy with British Style Bloggers the way that it was, and I didn't want it to get forgotten about, or to go to waste, because of that. I still think that it's a really good idea, and that British Style Bloggers need to have a place to congregate - and that this may well be the place...

So I decided to do something about it.

I set up the BSB Survey to help me work out what to do, to change things, and I think that it's helped me a lot.

So, this is what's going to happen...

  • We're completely re-designing. I like what we have here, but it's a bit childish and gawdy... I chose the colours because (duh) of the Union Jack, but I think they look a bit... tacky as they are. The new home page is going to look like this:

    • and it's going to come into effect pretty soon. I want to launch the whole new look together, though, so I'm a-waitin' for that!

  • We're also getting a new logo, designed especially for us by the wonderful Claire Napier. She's sketched a draft for me, and I adore it, so I can't wait to see the finished product! The Blog of the Month badge, which Florrie is still waiting for, is going to be an adapted version of the logo, too, for cohesion.
  • I'm going to try to set a monthly/weekly schedule for the site, so that I can run it as a side-line to all of my school work... it's getting tough, but I want it to work, so I am going to do my best to make it happen! I'll let you know about that as soon as possible! (Florrie's winning post still isn't up, for example...)
  • I'm looking for people to help me run the site, though... If you fancy being a regular contributor, or think you can write a monthly fashion low-down, or even if you just have a guest post which you think could be fabulous, I'd love to hear from you! Click "Get Involved" at the top!
  • I'm looking for Sponsers and Affiliates - I'll let you know about that as soon as I have worked out how this will work!
  • The Mailing List is going to become important. Please please please please please please please remember to re-sign-up!

 

And... phew! I think that's about it!

Ok, so a GUEST BLOGGER is just that - they do a post once in a while, when the mood takes them. Once every month at most, I'd say...

And a CONTRIBUTOR would have to have an OnSugar account so that they could post their own work under their own name. They'd post a regular piece say every Thursday, or every other Thursday. It could just be whatever they're posting in their own blog (but they'd have to explicilty state this), or it could be... well, anything they want to make of it, really!

I would dig being a regular contributor, if anyone thinks they'd be interested in reading me summing up/deconstructing the look of some famous (historical or current) Brit/someone important to British culture somehow, with suggestions of how to do a tribute or homage outfit whilst fitting modern fashion conventions? (Kind of like the Britannia redesign I did for the rough logo..) If people think that'd be super dull that's cool, I am aware that my tastes are not the tastes of everyone!

Ah you know I'd be up to doing odd little things, and I can merge and put em up on mine too? You know just ask me to write something and can supervise me do it at lunch Eye-wink But yeah, I'd LOVE the opportunity to, sounds fandabydosey! Can't wait!
