Layering Up

By Florrie · December 5, 2009 · 4 Comments · 57 Views

As someone who naturally reaches for a jumper rather than turning the heating up I was very interested to read IllusClaire's post asking us to do just that this coming weekend (starting on 11th).

When it gets cold..
And though this is deffinitely a chance to invest in some of winter's key pieces such as a  Snuggly Snood, you can also have fun layering up those clothes you already have in your wardrobe.
And snoods are not the only cosy thing you can layer, this is one trend that thinks of comfort.
Winter warmers
You can try experimenting with different tops, filling in a low neckline with a high one underneath or putting a sleeveless vest top over a full length sleeved one.
Layering
I particularly like layering tops under dresses for going out. I'm not willing to give up my lighter floral ones just yet so putting a warm top on underneath seems a good way to go. You can colour block or mix prints, just don't forget some thick tights!
Layering
Socks are also fun to experiment with and are a cheap way to add to your winter wardrobe, and looking at the ss10 Burberry catwalk they're a trend that's around to stay too.
As Claire said, 'Lets show the world that we not only care, but that we're willing to find a positive side to cutting carbon emissions and to enjoy keeping our world safe.'

Great post! I'm really glad that you're on board with this; I meant to tell you that it was your post mentioning the Hello Kitty Magazine "put on a jumper" tip that really cemented my intention to get this ball rolling.

Nice sets, too.. especially those socks on the last one. Ooo, want! (though not for SIXTY POUNDS GOSH)

I do love Hello Kitty. Smiling And it is a fantastic idea you had! I'll deffinitely be joining in.
Um yeah, I'd have so really, REALLY love some socks to pay that much.

Great post! Love all your ideas. Today was mild, so I opted for a cropped thick sweater and a high-waisted jersey skirt with thick black tights. I refuse to give up tights/dresses just because it's cold! Also, as I'm new to boots, I've come to the slow realisation that long boots (particularly over the knee ones) can help with this dilemma as they keep your legs warm even when you're wearing short hemlines!

Hello Kitty is truly a wonderous thing!

I can't wait to see what people come up with for this!
